Pittsburgh Gym Shooter George Sodini

I’m a fan of some horror movies and like many people enjoy being frightened, to a point. When I viewed these two videos, I was struck by the normalcy of it all. It’s just a couple of videos of a guy trying to get by in the world we live in. In one of the videos, you’re taken through the house George Sodini owned, guided through the rooms of the house by Sodini who offers up some commentary. It’s all very normal, no boxes stacked to the ceiling, pet excrement littering the floor or photos of Barney Frank in a speedo hanging from the wall, it’s just all very normal……

Which is why these videos are the scariest things I’ve ever seen. This is a guy who might next door, someone you could be corresponding with on one of those online dating sites, maybe even instant messaging right now. You could be talking to him in a thread on the DailyKos or Huffington Post right now. He isn’t wearing a hood and swinging a chainsaw, he isn’t ranting about guns or the government, he isn’t tatted like a Nazi dominatrix…..He’s just normal. Nothing in these videos would signal the insanity required to assassinate 3 women and wounding 9 others, including a pregnant woman at the LA Fitness gym in Collier Township, PA. I haven’t read his blog yet, but if you were to take this guys personality solely from the videos posted, nothing telegraphs the murder spree that happened on August 4th, 2009.

This is society today, it doesn’t matter what political affiliation you belong to, what religion you prescribe to, its a problem that no amount of money will fix, its just the way things are.

Monsters walk amongst us and you can’t do anything about it.
