The New Deal: A Free Cell Phone In Every Pocket

A  little outfit, TracFone Wireless, believes that cell phone ownership is a right.  So does the government, because if you receive Federal Public Housing Assistance, Food Stamps or Medicaid, or if your total household income is at or below 135% of the poverty guidelines set by your state and/or the federal government, they will give you your very own cell phone.

That’s right.  Not only will your gainfully-employed, taxpaying fellow Americans pay to keep you housed, fed, and able to see a doctor, we’ll also let you wander around with a cell phone stuck to your ear so that you, too, can take care of all that important business.  Now your pimp will never wonder where you are, and you’ll never miss that meeting with your drug dealer.  You can yuk it up with your homies while watching Jerry Springer and even text your vote for your favorite American Idol.  All on the taxpayer’s dime.

That’s right kiddies. All of this is possible due to your tax dollars through a program called “Safelink Wireless”.  A U.S. government supported program for income eligible households that ensures a cell phone in every crack house.

Now, we here on Blogshevik.com certainly understand that some people, like, the physically disabled, elderly and government workers are often at a disadvantage and applaud the program for people of limited abilities.

We’re also sure that through government guidance, instances of abuse will be limited…whut?

We just received a tip from an unnamed source that “Maggie’s Moonlight Bunny Ranch” in Elko, Nevada is about to launch a program designed to bring “bwaahaahaa” to those of limited income.  The program,  sponsored by the U.S. government and you, will be launched in mid-May to coincide with those giggly feelings many of lower income experience during the Spring. Cindy states, “Having a little “magumbo” is a right guaranteed under the Constitution, I think…but I’m not sure, but like, we received a stimulus check in the mail so we like decided that we’d start the program you know? We think it’s our duty to help stimulate the economy”.

The Constitution guarantees us all the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.  If having a cell  phone makes you happy, I suggest you put your hand back in your own pocket and pursue that happiness yourself.  Just like all the hard-working men and women who actually pay for their cell phone service. If a bit of “bwaahaahaa” on the government’s dime is an entitlement, I suggest you lock yourself in the bathroom with a copy of “Victoria Secret’s Catalog”  and a sock.

And so it oinks….

  1. I understand the frustration everyone is feeling and I acknowledge that many who have received the phones don’t need them, however, I am one of the semi-disabled individuals who, if stranded on the road (even a block from my house) would be indeed, STRANDED. Having this phone gives me increased safety and peace of mind, knowing that I can call my husband (who is working full-time) or the police without being reliant on strangers to help me is a great comfort. Of course, this is just my 2cents worth! Yes, it’s a cell phone, but you are only given 68 minutes a month, so it’s not like I’m hanging on it all day chit-chatting with my friends!

I love your site…can’t stand OBAMA and don’t think we need to spend money on recearching tapeworms in Alaska (or whatever), but this was ONE service that I am very appreciative of.

  2. And your case is exactly why a program like this might be needed, but you know as well as I do that it’s going to be abused by those who wouldn’t think twice about using the phones with nefarious intent. Restrictions are naught, the ability to load extra minutes and a machine that won’t nor can’t control the welfare program anyway. We’re in effect, subsidizing criminal activity.

So there you go. Thank you for the kind words Della, all the best to you and yours.

  3. I can understand the disabled or elderly having the phones….but people on welfare living , living in state funded facilities or houses?! Another example of our liberal, fraud infested state at work!

  4. This is a good blog and I have to say that I do agree with you. my only hope on this disaster is that they will monitor these “free” cell phones and any illegal activity will be followed up on. I do agree that there are some legitamitly disabled people who with social security disability do deserve to have a cell phone for emergenies especially if they live alone, but just being on welfare should not be a qualification. I mean I see many DPA receipiants that are driving around in SUV’s while me hard working ass is paing for it and riding around in a ford… oh well that is the government for ya.

  5. i have a cell phone fron safe link , and i only recive 68 minutes free a month , i can not speak with my family because i can only call my doctors with my cell , and my biguest help is talk with my family , and that i can not do it with 68 minutes a month

  6. I receive medicaid through a program for the physically disabled. I pay for a cell phone from my own pocket. The phone will answer calls but I cannot place calls. If anybody knows of a totally voice activated cell phone compatible with att/cinqular service email me.
    Thanks
P.S. I even own and make the mortgage payments on my home. It can be done by budgeting your money & not eating junk food. I am a conservative and on medicaid solely due to my disability. I do not care for people milking the system.

  7. You’re a person to be emulated…

Are you sure you want your email address to appear for everyone to see?

  8. I must agree that this program is very open to fraud. I too am disabled and it pisses me off that these kinds of programs are so abused. In my case applied for and was DENIED disability FOUR times before I got it even with doctor’s documentation! WHY did I get denied? Because of these lazy ass people that don’t want to work have abused the system so badly they deny everyone for fear of giving much needed funds to a leech!

Now we give them cell phones so they can call and complain to their 6 kids fathers about the child support and see about getting another rock for tonight after the kids are in bed. Hahaha who am I kidding, the kids are the ones out selling the rocks… Gangsta’s they call themselves. More illiteracy from illiterates. I am forced into living in government housing with these rectums. I hear gunshots almost every night. But I turn over and relax in the comfort of knowing that each one of these idiots that are killed over rock or whatever is one less fool I have to worry about trying to break into my apartment.
